Booking Terms and Conditions

1. Payment

  • Payment must be made by credit/debit card and all charges are in Australian Dollars.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and debit cards.  Cash payments are not accepted.  
  • A valid credit/debit card is required to confirm your booking.
  • Card holder must be present at the time of collection.
  • At the end of the rental period any additional charges incurred must be paid.
1.1. Deposit and Pay Later Bookings

Balance of payment is due in full upon collecting your vehicle.

2. Cancellations

COVID STATE LOCK DOWNS / COVID HOT SPOT DECLARATIONS, causing a change to travel arrangements will receive a full refund no fees or charges.

2.1. Deposit Refunds
  • Full refund if cancelled over 3 days before arrival.
  • Deposit amount is not refundable if cancelled within 3 days of arrival. 
2.2. Pay Now / Prepaid Refunds
  • Full refund if cancelled 7 days or more from arrival, excluding card fees.
  • A cancellation fee of 30% of the total booking value if cancelled less than 7 days and more than 3 days prior to the arrival date.  Maximum cancellation fee of $300.  Card fees are not refunded.
  • No refunds when cancelled within 3 days of arrival, or no shows.

3. Rental Bond

  • When collecting your vehicle a rental bond / holding deposit is required.  The bond amount will be shown at time of booking and printed on your contract.  This will be done as a charge on your nominated credit or debit card.  
  • The charge will be refunded at the end of your rental period when the vehicle is returned, inspected and detailed and your booking is finalized.  Note that some financial institutions may take up to 5-10 business days to process and release funds.  We have no control over their timing.

4. Comprehensive Insurance and Excess

  • All vehicles include fully comprehensive car insurance.  The vehicle excess will be shown at booking time and will be printed on your contract.  This is the maximum amount you will be liable for in the event of damage or theft to the vehicle during your rental period, whether your fault or not.  Your excess can be reduced by taking one of the cover options below.
  • You are not covered in the event where you are in breach of our hire terms and conditions or under certain conditions such as, but not limited to, leaving the scene of an accident, damage related to incorrect fuel type, deliberate or reckless damage or operating the vehicle unlawfully.  Refer to the hire terms and conditions for full details. 
  • There is no cover for your possessions, or accessories rented with the vehicle such as baby seats.
4.1. Standard Cover Option

This is our basic excess cover and is included in all bookings at no charge and has an excess between $3,000 and $6,000 depending on the vehicle type.  We strongly recommend taking either the Limited or Maximum Cover option in order to reduce your excess.
Windscreen and tyre damage is not covered in the Standard Cover and must be taken separately.

4.2. Limited Cover Option

A Limited Cover option is available which will reduce your excess to between $550 and $2,500 depending upon the vehicle category.  This option must be taken before or upon collection of the vehicle.  
Windscreen and tyre damage is not covered in the Limited Cover and must be taken separately.

4.3. Maximum Cover Option

This is our highest level of cover and reduces your excess to the minimum payable, in most cases $0.  Larger vehicles such as vans and buses will not be able to be reduced to $0 and will have a minimum excess of between $550 to $1,500.  This option must be taken before or upon collection of the vehicle. 
The windscreen and tyre waiver is automatically included within the Maximum Cover Option at no charge.

4.4. Windscreen and Tyre Waiver

This option will cover you against damage to the front windscreen and tyres of your rental vehicle.  Please note the following points in relation to this cover -

  • Windscreen damage relates to the FRONT windscreen only and only covers chips, cracks or star breaks in the windscreen.
  • Tyre damage only covers punctures, cuts and abrasions that have occurred due to normal driving conditions to any of the four tyres on the vehicle.
  • Automatically included for free when taking the Maximum Cover option.

 

5. Roadside Assistance

All vehicles include free RACQ roadside assistance for mechanical faults only.  Unless you take our Roadside Assistance cover, you are not covered for the following events -  

  • Tyre changing - help replacing with your space tyre
  • Lockout - open your vehicle when keys have been locked inside
  • Emergency fuel - Up to 15 litres if you unexpectedly run out of fuel
  • Flat battery - jump start your rental vehicle

6. Rental Period

  • Your rental period is classed as the time shown on your rental agreement and booking form.  The rate for hire is calculated and displayed for this period only.
  • The vehicle must be returned to us by the rental period end date shown on your agreement.  If you require an extensions you must contact us at least 2 hours before the due date and time.  Extensions are subject to availability and not guaranteed.  
  • A late fee may apply if you fail to return by the given date and time and we may attempt to recover the vehicle by lawful means.

7. Driver Requirements

  • All drivers must be at least 25 years of age.  
  • Each driver MUST be registered on the rental agreement at the time of collection of your vehicle.   
  • All drivers must hold either an Australian Open Licence, Australian Provisional Licence or a valid overseas licence.  All licences must be written in English.  The licence must be current and valid for the entire rental period.  Read more about driving in Queensland.
  • Vehicle must not be operated by a driver who is unfit to drive or under the influence of alcohol or any substance which would impair their ability.
  • Drivers must comply with all current road and traffic rules in the state of Queensland.
7.1. Australian Provisional Drivers (P-Plate)

The following additional restrictions and conditions apply to drivers holding an Australian Provisional Licence.

  • Must have held licence for at least 12 months.
  • Must purchase one of the damage waiver options.
  • Must display the P-Plate on the vehicle at all times and comply with any and all other rules, regulations and restrictions imposed in Queensland and on their provisional licence.

8. Restricted and Prohibited Areas

Refer to the current Hire Terms and Conditions for details on restricted and prohibited areas.

9. Fines and Charges

At the end of your rental period you will be required to pay any amounts in relation to the following -

  • Parking fines, infringements and penalties including court fees.  Fines received after your rental has been finalized will be transferred to the name of the primary renter and they will be responsible for payment to the relevant authority. A transfer fee of $33 will apply.
  • Any work required to return the vehicle to the condition it was at the start of your rental, excluding reasonable wear and tear.  This may include, but is not limited to, cleaning fees.  
  • Any damage incurred to the vehicle, up to the excess shown on your rental agreement.
  • Damage or replacement of accessories hired with your vehicle.
  • Refuelling charges.  All vehicles must be returned with a full tank of fuel.  A refuelling service fee will be charged otherwise.

All charges will occur an additional administration fee of $33 (including GST)

10. Subject to Availability

  • All bookings, including confirmed bookings, are subject to availability.
  • If a vehicle becomes unavailable for the start of your rental period, we will endeavour to organise a replacement.
